Windows, Wood, and WaterFurnace

I am Chris's chronic frustration. I rob him of sleep, patience, and appreciation for progress. I am fueled by miscommunication, schedule slips, and budget overages. He tries to suppress me, but he underestimates my strength. He tries to ignore me, but I appear at every visit. He tries to dismiss me, but his project thrives on my existence.

Okay, maybe a little dramatic, but Fight Club was on the other night so I felt compelled. My frustration level is extremely high though. We've had to tear down stone because it was done wrong, window panes are randomly cracking with no apparent reason, vendors are pulling stunts like "I made a mistake on the estimate, I need to get more money for that", and the custom fireplace that was built has to be taken out because it was wrong and won't pass inspection. Awesome, huh? These sound really bad, but they are manageable. Luckily, these are not actually costing us more money....yet. However, these are sucking time and energy that I'd much rather spend somewhere else.

This update has been a long time coming. It's been about five weeks since my last update. I'm happy to report significant progress despite the aforementioned problems, but we should actually be farther along than we are. In a nutshell, the windows are in, plumbing is all roughed in, electrical roughed in, stucco and exterior wood has started, and we approaching having the house secured.

Here's a quick visual status update. The photos are little old and I promise to post newer one this weekend.

The WaterFurnace Geothermal unit. It's big, but it serves the whole house.

Windows delivered. 29 of them!
Close up of the primed windows prior to install

T&G Cypress Siding. It looks very nice.

Windows installed. Cypress on the exterior of the stairwell.
